Houses crowd the shore, packed sided by side in an African beach town. Surrounded by blue water and sky, their colorful walls seem to take on a life of their own. Joseph Kobina Prah depicts the scene on an elongated horizontal canvas.
"In the heart of a city are people who dwell in makeshift houses built closely together without much space around the buildings. The movement of people living in such places is also limited," he says.
"Through this painting, I want to show that we all do not live in the same kind of environment. Some are rich others, are poor. Some live in very large compounds, and others do not."
