A fierce dragon clutches a dazzling garnet in its claws in this pendant necklace. Balinese artisan Dewa Arimbawa handcrafts the necklace from sterling silver, engraving detailed scales onto the dragon. The garnet totals 3.5 carats.
Dewa and his three employees are entirely dependent upon Novica sales to provide for themselves and their families.
Dewa is a talented jewelry artisan who inherited his love of the arts from his grandfather. He draws his design inspiration from Balinese architecture and textile design and uses traditional techniques, such as repousse, wax carving, jawan and bon to create his unique collection of contemporary jewelry. He is always eager to teach these skills to anyone interested in learning the art of jewelry making. Dewa's dream is for his work to be internationally known and in this way to help preserve the art of Balinese silversmithing.
Dewa has steadily grown his business since joining Novica. He now has two assistants and three silversmiths in his employ. He is determined to grow his business and find international recognition for his unique jewelry collection.
In 2017 Dewa received an Australian award for Jewelry Design and Business Readiness.
This artist is financially supporting children under the age of 18.
Dragon was missing a back claw. It looks like the casting was bad. Chain is nice and thick and pendant is really neat, but for the missing claw.
