Evoking a festive spirit, Indian artisan Osho Maharaj designs this gorgeous cotton maroon wall hanging with a stunningly detailed mandala in shades of poppy, maize, mandarin, and emerald. Royal drummers begin the ceremony amongst a floral garden at the center, with majestic camels waiting to greet the royal couple. Beyond this, beautiful flowers and elegant peacocks dance gracefully as the King and Queen walk through the gardens escorted by their attendees. Royal elephants adorned with ceremonial garments and a traditional howdah carrier complete the ceremonial parade. Pretty blooming flowers swirl together to create a lovely pattern along with dainty elephant motifs on the outer panel. The size of this wall hanging allows it to double as a bedspread.
Osho left a good job as a an textile engineer to establish his own workshop. Determined to work with local artisans, especially women who needed to work from home in rural areas, he has grown his workshop and now provides jobs for others.
The association received an award in 2017 for their work and commitment to support the education of girls.
