"...there are times when it is hard for me to transfer my emotions onto the media. That is the artistry of being a painter."
"My name is Teguh Iman, but I prefer for people to just call me Iman. I was born in Denpasar on June 19, 1970. I began to learn how to paint when I was still a child. My first and best teacher was my father, a senior painter in the village. I like the way he told me things. He never asked me to do anything; he preferred to teach me how to do so.
"Everyday life and the beauty of the world inspire me to create my paintings. Painting is everything to me. All of my problems can be forgotten through the movement of the paintbrush. Through painting I can enjoy my life and everything offered by God's creatures. At times painting is something easy for me, but there are times when it is hard for me to transfer my emotions onto the media. That is the artistry of being a painter."
Iman has received innumerable prizes in Bali and Java for the quality of his work, and has participated in exhibitions throughout Indonesia as well as in Halmen and Frankfurt, Germany.
