Working from the artisanal city of Agra, Indian artisan Gulam Rasool designs a decorative jar after the style of jali art and architecture. The base and lid of the jar are hand-carved of natural soapstone, detailed with intricate openwork patterns that depict marching elephants.

The work involved in making this has to come from the heart. Im so grateful to the family who does this work. I was able to gift this to a dear friend with a soft spot for elephants. Its a beautiful work of art.

Mr. Rasools decorative workmanship is so exquisite! His work is so finely carved and the elephants on his soapstone jars are very delicately etched. Thank you, Mr. Rasool.

Precious piece and worried about arriving safe and sound. Relieved packaging was so secure took me removal of several layers of wrapping to get to box! Superb crafting of many elephants (my favorite creature) and love round design and substantial weight and size. Only disappointment is not off-white or ecru color as shown online, but a much darker brown or grayish shade. Nevertheless, love his work. Wish Gulam could bring back dyed/colored soapstone that he used to craft years ago. I have one of his pieces of a soapstone multi-colored elephant small box which I truly treasure.

Beautiful artwork and craftsmanship are words that do not adequately describe the amazing piece. I have more of these pieces, and this statement applies to them all. Just BEAUTIFUL!!!
