Salihu Ibrahim in Ghana presents this fascinating decorative broom, inspired by those used by the Guro peoples of the Ivory Coast as flyswatters. The sese wood handle is hand-carved to resemble a Guro princess, right down to her braided hairstyle. Palm leaf petioles or stems are then secured to the handle using black cotton cloth. The broom features a loop for hanging on the wall if desired.

I was very excited to receive this mask. It makes a great impression against the white wall where I wanted to place it. I love the geometric design and quirkiness of the face which evokes laughter and good humor for me.
