Decorative Accent Batik Canoe in Blue from Indonesia, "Floral Canoe in Blue"

Working with a single piece of coconut flower husk, known as kloping, this decorative home accent is handcrafted in the shape of a canoe by the artisans at Indonesia's Sasak Lombok Craft. They accent the canoe with woven ate grass fibers around the rim and fitted bamboo feet. The floral motifs on the canoe's blue body are achieved using the batik method, where a wax resist is applied to the canoe before it is submerged in vats of dye.
