Taufan Redha is inspired by Javanese batik art and customs for the design of this photo frame adorned with the parang curigo and kawung patterns. Parang curigo literally means "suspicious sword," has a diagonal formation and was traditionally used by women to show loyalty to their husbands. Kawung dates back to the thirteenth century and consists of intersecting ovals representing flowers such as the sugar palm or Aren. It was historically reserved for the royal court of the Sultan of Jogjakarta. This handcrafted cotton frame is designed for a vertical or horizontal photograph and features a protective glass pane.
