Costa Rican Traditional Balsa Wood Mask of Warrior & Macaw, "Boruca Macaw"
The scarlet macaw is a majestic species found in many Costa Rican forests along the Pacific Coast. It is joined by a petite blue bird to crown a beautifully hand-carved and hand-painted balsa wood mask depicting a warrior of the Boruca people. This lovely accent to decorate your walls is crafted by the artisans of Costa Rica's Association of So Cagru Indigenous Women as a tribute to the masks worn by the Boruca during their annual Dance of the Devils celebrations to commemorate their battles during the Spanish conquest.
