A character of extreme importance to the ancient Inca , the chasqui was a messenger who also took care of a community's logistics. Chasquis were responsible of informing the emperors of possible uprisings or enemies approaching. Angel Franco details the image of a chasqui for this exquisite decorative vase. A llama stands proud on the other side of the vase’s belly as Franco works with galvanized bronze and copper.

Your Purchase Makes a Difference!

Angel and his entire family nearly died in a horrible car accident. It took them almost a year to recover. During this time, they struggled to keep their workshop open, fearing every day that they would lose it. They recovered and learned that their Novica customers were there for them when they were able to work again.

"Metal work has been part of Peruvian culture since before the Incas. It is an inheritance that my father taught me and I have taught my children. In our workshop, we make many replicas of Inca and traditional Peruvian art. We use brass, copper and silver like our ancestors did. This keeps our culture alive."

Angel still supports most of his family. He provides for his own wife and the wife of his eldest son. He pays for the education of his children. His Novica sales enable him to do so, providing a steady source of income for the family.

Angel has four children. His eldest son is unable to pay for the education of his two daughters. Angel provides for his granddaughters' education.

This artist is an elder master and continues to actively practice their craft.
