Pablo and Lucy Mendez hand-carve it from coal wood in an imposing stance with its wings gloriously spread. A hand-painted pattern in bright yellow, seafoam blue, white, and olive green pops against the creature's black background. This alebrije comes with removable wings and tail for safe shipping. An assembly manual is included for easy setup.
Pablo and Lucy enjoy blending traditional techniques with modern influences in their work to create innovative designs. They hope to keep Oaxaca's tradition of alebrije carving alive through their colorful pieces.

"Absolutely perfect addition to my lighted branch tree"
I bought a lighted bare branch tree from a major retailer this Christmas. This beautiful ornament hangs perfectly and can be seen all the way around. It is such a colorful addition to this new tree. I hope to buy more next holiday season.

"Piece of art!"
I have several of these bookmarks on hand to give as gifts along with books for the young people in my life. Beautiful little pieces of art, they are sturdy, and also bright enough not to be misplaced. A couple also reside in my art room, peeking brightly out of a glass jar. Highly recommend!
