“My name is Miriam del Roció; I am an artisan in leather goods. I started this beautiful job in 2010 during an economic crisis in which my husband and I found ourselves. That is why we took refuge in this art, to bring sustenance to our home.
“Since I was little, I was fortunate that my parents instructed me and showed me the value of having your own company. They instilled in me that the most valuable thing is to create something that you are passionate about, that is yours. That gives meaning to life and constant creativity.
“It was through my husband that I learned what it takes to create my own bag collection. I was further cultivating my knowledge with my own discoveries, and also with the help and mentoring of experts in this area.
“When starting this project, I realized that the most important virtue to develop is that of patience. At the beginning it was difficult; it is a very enriching challenge that taught us to be more precise and passionate about quality. And to develop through practice.
“Each of our pieces is made of cowhide, and it is obtained in a sustainable way.
My main inspiration is the cultural richness of my Mexico; and my beloved town of La Barca in the state of Jalisco. I observe the trees, and traditional dress. It always starts as an idea and I develop it into a complete model. It is common for me to wake up in the middle of the night developing an idea. I love it.
“On the practical aspects, I take care of the design part and how to translate the idea onto the leather. I always love learning from each of my collaborators, they show me the result of each process, and each one reflects a part of them.
“Now little by little we are growing and sharing our designs more. I want to continue contributing to the economy of my home and the well-being of my family. May this beautiful project lead us to unite more and know ourselves better.”
