Pablo Picasso, the world famous artist best known for his cubist and abstract paintings that were busy with color, pattern and detail, was also renowned for his simplistic, subdued, one-line drawings. Bare depictions of people and animals were created in his way. Thai artisan Napat Chotpruekchookul expertly channels Picasso's line drawings with a depiction of flowers and plant life on a circular ceramic pendant. It is worn on a black faux suede cord that can be knotted at the desired length.
Napat rescued her family's dying ceramic workshop from extinction with the introduction of ceramic jewelry as a new product line. Additionally, she has used her background in environmental science to build a sustainable eco-friendly business. She employs several local artisan/technicians in her workshop.
The Women's Empowerment badge is awarded to female artisans or artisan groups that are led by women.
