A trio of monkeys is depicted in celadon ceramic. One covers its ears, another its mouth, and the third places its hands over its eyes. Known in Thailand as "the three monkeys," the meaning of the images is that humans should not receive bad things or evil from the environment that surrounds them. Kanda sculpts the elegant figurines in clay. Using the celadon technique, she colors the smooth blue contours with a delightfully crackled glaze.

This s truly a striking figurine, and taller than I expected. The cat is so sleek and graceful, and the way it twists its shoulders around (creating shadows on its body!) is done so beautifully that one can sense its lithe muscularity. Just a superb representation of the animal.

Es un nacimiento muy bonito!! Muy original. Se une a mi colección particular de belenes del mundo. Muy contento porque además llegó muy pronto. Los reyes magos me parecen muy simpáticos. Muy contento. Gracias y enhorabuena!

What a delightful tiny plate this is. Can elegantly hold mints, toothpicks, etc at a dinner table, or rings at a bedside stand. Or, one can just hold it and admire the expert crafting, delicate color and smooth surface like I do. Makes a great little display gift that demonstrates an ancient technique.
