Marcos Rojas crafts this bold and beautiful mask, carved from balsa wood and painted by hand. It depicts a spotted jaguar that gazes directly at the viewer with intense green eyes. Rain forest plants flourish on its fierce face. Equally pretty but equally menacing, a strawberry poison-dart frog poses on the forehead of the fierce jungle cat. The Costa Rican artist shares his native Boruca culture through his art, crafting masks used in ceremonies and dances.

This mask is incredible! The wood used is really interesting and the colors and design are so beautiful. It looks gorgeous on my wall and definitely draws the eye!
