This handcrafted rayon fringed poncho designed by Micaela Ujpan of Guatemala features jaspe motifs of black, sky blue, and antique white achieved through the ikat tie-dye technique. Inspired by love, the artisan uses motifs of hearts, people, and geometric symbols to form the patterns.
About her passion for her work, the artisan says: “I have a personal dream of making my textiles known around the world. I also hope my daughter learns how to weave so that our Maya handloom techniques are preserved.”
