Rich with West African symbolism, this decorative wall plaque is crafted by Musah Abdallah in Ghana. He carves it by hand from sese wood, and decorates it with neat triangles of brass and traditional Akan adinkra symbols. From top to bottom, he includes akoma, the symbol for patience and tolerance; nsoromma a symbol of guardianship and faith in God; and biribi wo soro, a symbol of hope. Originated by the Ashanti people, adinkra symbols are visual icons that generally represent beliefs or proverbs.
