The Mexican artisan hand-embroiders the front of the cotton cover in a process that can take as much as four weeks. The solid red back features a slit for inserting a cushion.

“Absolutely beautiful !”

“Nice colors, great stichwork, and a lot of character”

I was somewhat on the fence about how cartoonish the birds looked in the picture, but I love birds and I love purple, so I figured it was worth getting. Up close, you can see just how detailed and perfect the stitchwork is. It also becomes clear that she is depicting these birds in naturalistic poses that I recognize from my own birds. Ms. Perez is clearly both a great seamstress and a great observer of nature, and she also has a good color sense. I also really like the composition on this piece.
