A toucan and a colorful parrot are joined by a tiger and some busy bees on this excellent cushion cover from Lorenza Perez. The Mexican artisan hand-embroiders the front of the cotton cover in a process that can take as much as four weeks. The solid red back features a slit for inserting a cushion.

This pillow cover is so gorgeous. The colors are bright, and the creatures are very detailed and sweet. My pillow insert fit inside effortlessly. I am so pleased with this cover.

I was somewhat on the fence about how cartoonish the birds looked in the picture, but I love birds and I love purple, so I figured it was worth getting. Up close, you can see just how detailed and perfect the stitchwork is. It also becomes clear that she is depicting these birds in naturalistic poses that I recognize from my own birds. Ms. Perez is clearly both a great seamstress and a great observer of nature, and she also has a good color sense. I also really like the composition on this piece.
