Artisan Crafted Cotton Scarf from Guatemala, "Blue Atitlan"
Blue as the deep waters of Lake Atitlán, this beautiful scarf takes its colors from the sacatinta plant. "We can obtain many tonalities of blue and indigo," weavers from the Community Association of Tzutujil Women Artisans explain. "The dark blue is taken from the first time we boil the leaves, and the light blue from the fourth boiling." The women work in cool cotton, working on a traditional backstrap loom to create the extraordinary textile.
