Artisan Crafted 10 Inch Talavera Style Casserole, "Zacatlan Flowers"
Shipping Timeframe: 7 to 17 business days. Delivery Estimate
Flowers blossom with an exuberant feast of colors on a casserole designed in the Talavera style of the state of Puebla. The motifs are painted by hand over the ivory-color ceramic dish with a palette that includes yellow-orange, blue, and green flowers over a crisscross network of dots and crosses. Bordered by a black honeycomb, this tray comes from the 'Zacatlán Flowers' collection designed by Pedro Tecayehuatl.
Talavera is a distinctive art form brought to Mexico by artisans from Talavera de la Reina, Spain. The ceramic artisans of Puebla, Mexico then incorporated Chinese designs, thus creating the blue and oyster-white patterns traditionally associated with Talavera Poblana. Today there are also more "contemporary" designs that include yellow, green, orange, mauve, black and red.
National and international conventions require that a rigorous procedure be followed in the elaboration of authentic Talavera-style ceramics. Each individual piece will be slightly different, and therefore a unique work of art.

"Stunning artwork!"

I am proud and very grateful to have two of Pedros pieces for our new kitchenware after losing everything in a CA fire last year. I lived in Spain and in Mexico as a student and have always appreciated the artistry of Talavera-style pottery. The design is intricate, the colors true and gorgeous; the pieces are elegant as weight belies the sturdiness of the pottery. Everything was expertly packed. Will be ordering more... thank you, Pedro.

"Colorful addition!"

My plant needed more room and this is a colorful addition to the mantle. I got some bowls in Puerto Vallarta once that had a similar pattern. I love having this beautiful pot in plain view.

"A little surprise gift"

This is a sweet napkin holder given to replace one broken by accident by a toddler. The gift was well received. It is beautiful, colorful and sturdy. It is just a bit small for our standard napkins here in the USA. But I recommend the item for certain!
