Arpillera Wall Hanging Depicting Summer in the Andes, "Andean Summer"
Bits of fabric and embroidery combine to create this whimsical folk art depiction of summertime in the Andean mountains. Artist Eleodora Salvatierra says "My work reflects my ideas and my feelings. It shows people our path through time, as well as the art and culture of the Peruvian people." The technique is called arpillera, a kind of appliqué that is attached to cloth originally used for sacks.

"So adorable!"
The detail in this is amazing, down to the tiniest flower. I just love it!! I will buy one or two additional pieces (different motifs, of course) and hang them in a spot that I have already chosen in my home. BTW, I was pleased to find a pocket on the top of back for a rod to fit through.

It lovely! Only minus is the disproportionate sizes - birds larger than monkeys and people, for example.

"the work is lovely...the packing subpar"
the work is stunning. however, because of how it was packaged, some of the flowers arrived bent, and i have been unable to flatten the petals, despite a heavy book on them for a couple of weeks now.
