Crafted entirely by hand, this fascinating design depicts a stylized serpent with the body of a human. Pre-Hispanic glyphs are finely painted by hand in incredible detail on the smooth ivory clay. By master ceramist Gregorio Bracamonte, the terracotta vessel takes its colors from crushed stones mixed with slip. "This piece is most interesting," he says. "Its design is unique and represents a snake, present in all cultures since its appearance in the Bible story of the Garden of Eden. In Central America, it was related with water and the earth's fertility."

"Beautiful museum quality ceramics"

Just brought my third piece from this artisan extraordinaire. The details are astonishing. The pieces have to be seem to be believed. Photographs do not do justice to the beauty of his craft.
