Details
"Early peoples in Nicaragua sang hymns in honor of the gods," says ceramist Maria Arauz. "The 'Song to the Sun' was written in the Nahuatl language and is the only one that has survived today." This exquisitely handcrafted ceramic vase pays tribute to the song.
"When the sun sets, my lord,
my heart hurts, it hurts.
It has died, the sun,
Fire of the Day does not live.
I love you, I love you
Fire of the Day. Do not leave.
The sun has gone.
My heart weeps."
