Their feathers suggesting a heart, two birds represent love in Awudu Saaed's original design. He carves the large sese wood mask by hand, masterfully detailing the male and female birds on the forehead. The mask's florid cheeks are embossed in aluminum. Saaed calls his design "Odo pa," which means "Good Love" in the Twi dialect of the Akan people of Ghana.

Not sure how I stumbled upon this mask in the first place but from the moment I saw it, something about it haunted me. Its beautiful. I could NOT stop thinking about it and finally caved, and Im so glad I did. The colors, the beadwork, and the craftsmanship are all incredible. This is my favorite piece of art we own, by far. I cant wait to collect more of Awudu Saaeds work.
