Concentric circles in pink and white bring to life this dance mask from the Luba or Baluba people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Couples wear similar masks when they dance, as it represents the spirit which connects the world to the spirit world. Working with sese wood, Christopher Nyasafo hand-carves this impressive wall mask featuring a long lean nose, half-closed eyes and bright red lips.
