Las Orquideas Weavers are a group of over 50 artisans from Guatemala who work together to improve their economic situation and quality of life. They weave this duvet color from 100% cotton on a traditional loom, elaborating it with plaid patterns in cerulean blue and daffodil shades. Known as jaspe, the motifs are created with an ikat technique, in which the threads are tie-dyed before placing them on the loom. This technique is passed down through generations of artisan women.

"Beautiful but needs tweaking "
Really beautiful and well made. I do have two major complaints. One, a duvet cover should include straps sewn in each corner to keep the cover and the insert in place. This one does not. Two, the fabric has metallic accents. This is not included in the description and is not evident in the online photos. I would have preferred no metallic accent, however it is not a deal breaker. We have traveled many times to Guatemala and our guest room is being decorated with the many craft items we picked up in our travels. I was looking for a cover that would harmonize with the Coban Huipile that I use as a wall hanging. Jaspe is one of my favorite Guatemalan fabrics and the weaving in this Duvet Cover is of an exceptional quality. The pattern of the weaving coordinates beautifully with the blues, yellows and pinks on my Huipile. I could not have asked for a better color match.
