Nativity Scenes from the Andes Curated by: Una Who Wanders
Terra cotta walls, belfry towers, village churches and reed canoes, these scenes of everyday life in the Andes, provide the settings for Dionisio Rojas' folk art nativities. At a glance the expressive faces and careful details reveal the work of a master ceramist. The large Central Church Nativity, shown at the bottom of the collection, is my favorite. This folk art masterpiece with its inclusionary vision celebrates the central role of the church in community life.
