Multicolor Wood Masks
During my senior year at the University of Illinois, I decided to take an easy course. I was getting burned out. So I signed up for an African Art History class. That class turned out to be my most difficult course and, after two weeks, and flunking a quiz, I found out it was an advanced course. I could have switched classes, but had already fallen in love with the cultures we studies. Most memorable was the Ashanti people. Years later, while in a store, I pointed to an object and said to my husband, "That's Ashanti." I hadn't yet confirmed my declaration. He picked it up, looked and was impressed that I could identify it as to which culture created it. I've been buying from Novica for years. This is one of my treasures. Beautifully detailed and constructed. I'm looking for another piece as well. Thanks, Abdul for your wonderful art!
This is the first item I've purchased from this artist but, I will be back for more. The craftmanship is great. I loved this mask when I saw it online but, in person it is even more beautiful. To think someone has such great talent, I'm jealous, The workmanship and coloring are absolutely exquisite. As you can probably tell I'm one happy camper with my purchase and want more of his work and will get in the future. Please don't hesitate to purchase from this artist he's fantastic.
We received this beautiful wood mask and couldn't be happier with it. It is exactly like what we wanted. Rita Addo Zakour is fabulously gifted.
"In 2000, I went into carving and since then I have never regretted it. But I haven't abandoned painting completely either."
