masks - ghanaian - akan - wood - west africa
The pictures don't do this piece justice - the colors are even more beautiful in person, and the intricate detail work is noteworthy.
When the mask arrived I was prepared for disappointment, but quickly realized it was even more beautiful than the online portrayal. Having spent many years as an artist and art teacher believe that this artist is profoundly skilled.
This mask is as beautiful as the picture depicts - even more so. It is very striking, and quite often I will just stop and admire it on the wall. I look forward to building a collection of these beautiful masks.
"In 2000, I went into carving and since then I have never regretted it. But I haven't abandoned painting completely either."
