So brilliantly colored
Large plates, hand painted, each unique but stylistically a pair. Love this artists work and the Raining Flowers set. Well packaged. the pair arrived safely.
I bought this after buying a bowl from this artist before This was beautiful. Glad it came with holes in the back as I have t decided whether to display it on the wall or use it as a small serving plate on the table for special occasions. This talavera is amazing. The workmanship is amazing. I cannot afford a whole table but I recommend to anyone getting a piece for your table.
I love these plates!
I am in love. I have been looking at and collecting Talavera -- most vintage. These plates however are new. The colors are more brilliant and deep; the plates are solid and smooth; and though I did not think I would say this I love them more. I kissed the plate this morning just because it is so beautiful! These 12 inch dinner plates are large and would make wonderful serving plates also. I have the bowls too and love them also!
Gorky Gonzalez Handcrafted Majolica ceramics
In 1992, Mexico's then president awarded Gorky Gonzalez with the National Award of Sciences and Art. "My main interest was always the rescue of traditional Majolica pottery."

I learned how to create distinct colorations in ceramic in... read more

Talavera Ceramic Dinner Plates from Mexico (Pair), "Raining Flowers"$64.95
Created by artisan Sergio Ponce, these Majolica ceramic dinner plates will bring the beauty of Mexico to your kitchen or dining room. The matching pair is painted by hand with vibrant floral motifs inspired by Puebla's legendary Talavera pottery.
Artisan Crafted Ceramic 12-inch Dinner Plates (Pair), "Zacatlan Flowers"$79.99
Flowers blossom with an exuberant feast of colors on plates designed in the Talavera style of the state of Puebla. The motifs are painted by hand over the ivory-color ceramic plates with a palette that includes yellow-orange, blue, and green flowers over a crisscross network of dots and crosses. Bordered by a black honeycomb, this pair of plates comes from the 'Zacatlán Flowers' collection designed by Pedro Tecayehuatl.
Talavera is a distinctive art form brought to Mexico by artisans from Talavera de la Reina, Spain. The ceramic artisans of Puebla, Mexico then incorporated Chinese designs, thus creating the blue and oyster-white patterns traditionally associated with Talavera Poblana. Today there are also more "contemporary" designs that include yellow, green, orange, mauve, black and red.
National and international conventions require that a rigorous procedure be followed in the elaboration of authentic Talavera-style ceramics. Each individual piece will be slightly different, and therefore a unique work of art.
Artisan Crafted 11 Inch Blue Talavera Style Ceramic Plate, "Talavera Kaleidoscope"
A mosaic of blue daisies is captivating in a Talavera-style plate with scalloped borders designed by Alonso Luis. The lavish composition on the enameled ceramic plate is painted by hand with the same characteristic palette of colors that distinguish Talavera artistry, such as green, cobalt blue, and yellow underscored by an ivory hue.
