Talavera ceramic plate, 'Cobalt Bouquet'

By Cathleen
Beautiful craftmanship
I bought this after buying a bowl from this artist before This was beautiful. Glad it came with holes in the back as I have t decided whether to display it on the wall or use it as a small serving plate on the table for special occasions. This talavera is amazing. The workmanship is amazing. I cannot afford a whole table but I recommend to anyone getting a piece for your table.
Ceramic dinner plates, 'Zacatlan Flowers' (pair)

I love these plates!
I am in love. I have been looking at and collecting Talavera -- most vintage. These plates however are new. The colors are more brilliant and deep; the plates are solid and smooth; and though I did not think I would say this I love them more. I kissed the plate this morning just because it is so beautiful! These 12 inch dinner plates are large and would make wonderful serving plates also. I have the bowls too and love them also!

Very impressed with quality of this piece. Lovely workmanship. The package arrived faster than expected and was very carefully wrapped to prevent breakage. Exceeded expectations. Thank you.

Artisan Crafted Ceramic 12-inch Dinner Plates (Pair), "Zacatlan Flowers"
$79.99Flowers blossom with an exuberant feast of colors on plates designed in the Talavera style of the state of Puebla. The motifs are painted by hand over the ivory-color ceramic plates with a palette that includes yellow-orange, blue, and green flowers over a crisscross network of dots and crosses. Bordered by a black honeycomb, this pair of plates comes from the 'Zacatlán Flowers' collection designed by Pedro Tecayehuatl.
Talavera is a distinctive art form brought to Mexico by artisans from Talavera de la Reina, Spain. The ceramic artisans of Puebla, Mexico then incorporated Chinese designs, thus creating the blue and oyster-white patterns traditionally associated with Talavera Poblana. Today there are also more "contemporary" designs that include yellow, green, orange, mauve, black and red.
National and international conventions require that a rigorous procedure be followed in the elaboration of authentic Talavera-style ceramics. Each individual piece will be slightly different, and therefore a unique work of art.
