Colorful Recycled CD Dangle Earrings from Guatemala, "Celebrate Creativity"$44.49
With a concern for the environment, Rosario Leiva of Guatemala works to recycle CDs, giving the material a special treatment that results in this unique and original pair of dangle earrings. The various colors of the rainbow are featured in this lively accessory, dangling from the ears on hooks of sterling silver.
Yellow Turquoise and Purple Recycled CD Dangle Earrings, "Color Explosion"
Artisan Rosario Leiva of Guatemala brings new life to recycled CDs in these beautiful and fascinating dangle earrings with sterling silver hooks. She melts the CD scrap in a mold, then artfully applies droplets of acrylic to achieve her desired colors--purple, turquoise, and yellow for this pair of earrings--and then fuses the CD material and acrylic together using a blow torch. The resulting effect is magnificent translucent color punctuated with air bubbles that create unique patterns.
About her work, the artisan says: "I love creating jewelry with materials that most people would discard. Let's all take the time to think about the endless opportunities we have to give 'waste' materials another chance."
Recycled Glass Button Earrings in Blue and Green, "Forest Modernity"
Evoking cool pools in the middle of a forest, these modern button earrings are designed by Costa Rican artisan Grettel Sandoval. She works with recycled glass, crafting the square earrings by hand. Sterling silver posts complete this eco-friendly accessory.
Adjustable Upcycled Metal Pendant Necklace from Guatemala, "Three Rings"
Combining a contemporary aesthetic with a love for recycling, Guatemalan duo Ruben and Gilda Perez design this pendant necklace. They craft the pendant of three upcycled stainless steel washers that are strung from top to bottom in descending size, centering an adjustable length of cotton cord.
