Oscar Figueroa turns his eye toward vintage Mexican jewelry of the kind favored by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Working in Taxco sterling silver, he creates a Mazahua-style necklace. The pendant is delicately sculpted to depict an ornate nest hosting beaded dangles. Two doves exchange a kiss atop he pendant while two fledglings nestle beneath, and natural turquoise adds color and contrast.
Oscar Figueroa Escorcia was born in Taxco and has been working as a silversmith for more than three decades. His work captures his passion for the craft as well as local traditions.

My new bracelet arrived today and I immediately put it on. What a magnificent piece of jewelry! I know the jewelry artists in Taxco make lovely things and this bracelet is a great example of the talent in that region. The bracelet is exactly as described and pictured. It says it is shiny and it certainly is that. The clasp is made very well and will not unhook easily. In fact, the clasp is so lovely, I turned the bracelet to put the clasp on top of my wrist so it will show when wearing. I love that its simple rings interlock and its simplicity is a significant part of its beauty. I am very pleased with this purchase and appreciate the artistry involved. It was shipped promptly and I was informed of its progress once it reached the U.S. I highly recommend this artist and his talents.
