Artisan Alvaro Ratzan learned from his parents to create beautiful designs using simple materials, enabling him and his siblings to earn a living and better the lives of those in their community. The Ratzan family pioneered the glass beaded handicraft trade in the area surrounding Lake Atitlan in the Guatemalan highlands. Here, Alvaro creates a colourful hummingbird in honour of the diverse fauna that thrives in the Guatemalan wilderness, arranging glass beads in a waterfall of luminescence.

I cant put in words the beauty of this simple yet gorgeous cuff bracelet. The multi colored beads seem to dance together. It brings back happy memories of my Florida Keys life during the 1970s when beaded jewelery was top of the list. I love the light weight comfort on my wrist & I love the soft leather inside lining. Great art work!

The intricacy of the beadwork makes this little bird a delight to the eye. The colors blend delightfully and make the bird seem almost alive. I will cherish this lovely ornament.

Hang these from my curtains to reflect sunlight coming through the windows and enjoy knowing how much the intricate design and effort go into designing each hummingbird. They are a darker hue, wish artist would work with more of a lighter more pastel color for future projects.
