A man in a heavy collar and ornate earplugs wears a graceful headdress made from leaves of corn. In his hands, he holds a bowl of fresh golden maize as an offering of gratitude to the gods. Skilled members of the Angel Ceron Artisan Association create an image in handcrafted ceramic to honor Mexico's pre-Hispanic civilizations. The headdress is similar to that of a Classic Maya sculpture from Copan that can be seen in the Peabody Museum. Their concept may be inspired by a Maya maize God image from the same archaeological site, now on display in the British Museum. However the artisans give the deity the look of an aged man.
You can find our ceramic figurine 'Offering of Maize' by Angel Ceron Artisan Association in categories such as Maya Sculpture and Ceramic Sculpture. Enjoy exploring these sections for other Novica treasures.
