Ancient Norse culture believed in the sacred duty to fight and die for the world. Often involved in long and hard battles, Viking soldiers used to attract protection with a mystic sign called Ægishjálmur or "Helm of Awe", now present in this leather cord necklace. Made by Balinese artisan Made Wardika, the symbol is carved in cow bone, adding a sterling silver structure with leafy details for a magical aura.

Years ago, my husband used to wear a hei matau like this, but he lost it a long time ago. I was just on here, searching around for something for him for Fathers Day, when I found this listing. I KNEW it would be perfect, and it is - he wears it every day! And it is so exquisitely made, with such care and attention to detail. Thank you!
