In this painting by Ghanaian artist Samuel Lartey, a woman smiles as she adjusts an earring in preparation for a date. Lartey paints in an expressionist style, depicting the woman's exaggerated features in a blue hue with disco-like squares that create the illusion of sparkles. Says the artist, "This happens in our daily life when a lady is excited to go on a date with a guy who proposed to her. The lady takes hours to dress, just to impress the the guy."
