Original Oil on Canvas Panting of African Gourd, "Keys to Imagination"

Drawing and painting have always come naturally to Ghana's Emmanuel Martey Cherkoh. Cherkoh presents this original oil on canvas painting, which depicts a stylized gourd with geometric and tribal motifs in a palette of turquoise and ochre. "It shows a gourd which our mothers in olden days cut out in different shapes to store water, use as a drinking cup, etc. It signifies our mothers in society, and the love they have for their children," says the artist.
