Bali artisan Komang Agus crafts a magnificent wall mask from smooth crocodile wood. The mask depicts the representation of Buddha that is seen at Borobudur temple in Bali. In this representation, the hair is a mass of tiny curls, with a pointed ushnisha or top knot. The earlobes are elongated and the brows are beautifully arched. Although the mouth may be curved in a slight smile, the expression is one of complete serenity. The artisan adds a crown-like backdrop to emulate holy rays of light surrounding the deity.
