Details

Stars come out as dusk turns to night and townspeople gather in the square for an evening of music and dance. Created with the woodcut technique, the images are then transferred to white ceramic tiles. In the first, Ivan Borges depicts 'Dance on the Farm,' with couples dancing to the music of a trio on rural Brazil.

In the second, 'The Migrants,' shows a family of migrant farm workers on their way to the next job. Carrying his hoe, the father steadies the bundle of belongings his wife balances on her head. Their three children catch a ride on the family's horse beneath the tropical sun.

Both are framed in a single composition.

Titled "Forró na Fazenda" and "Os Retirantes," and in Portuguese.
