Colorful Polymer Clay Baby Polar Bear Sculpture from Bali, "Baby Polar Bear"
J.S. Anderson draws inspiration from his family history of artistry, devoting his career to exploring the wonderful possibilities offered by polymer clay. Working with Meili W., he diligently forms the clay by hand into tubes that feature colorful and imaginative designs. Cross sections are cut from these tubes and carefully applied around the body of this small polar bear sculpture. The baby bear is decorated with entrancing, icy motifs, including the portrait of another polar bear on its back. J.S. Anderson has worked for 25 years to perfect this millefiori-style technique, which has allowed him to create intricate and amazing designs on his sculptures. Each pattern on this sculpture is diligently arranged by the artisans through a painstaking process to ensure perfection.

"So intricate its a Marvel"
I have a collection of bears, but nothing like this little fellow. What a charmer and looks impossible, but somehow there it is. Beautiful craftsmanship and makes me happy every time I see it.

"Beautiful"
I purchased this item for my sister,who has a great rat terrier that resembles this guy. I liked it so much that I purchased one for myself. All of jon anderson pieces are wonderful,great conversation pieces and lovely to.look at.

"Brilliant artist"
I have several animals made by Jon Anderson (tortoise, elephant, ram, tree frog, gecko), and they are all gorgeous. He is an amazing artist. I am thrilled that some of his items are now available on Novica because I can support his art and Novica at the same time. All of the decoration on the animals was made by manipulating the clay; none of it is painted on. The technique is impressive, but what I love about his animals are their expressions and grace. They embody joy.
