Collectible Maya Ceramic Sculpture Museum Replica, "Maya Incense Holder"
Sculpted of yellow clay from the state of Oaxaca, this sculpture is a faithful replica of a Maya incense holder found in Palenque, Chiapas dated 600-900 B.C. It features the protruding face of a Maya man accompanied by a quetzal bird, a serpent and two more faces perhaps associated with Maya deities. "Finding these holders offered new information about Maya cosmogony," say artisans from the Angel Cerón Artisan Association, who are officially authorized to craft pre-Hispanic replicas. "They revealed the belief in a divine trinity that included the rising and celestial sun, K'awiil or corn god, symbolized by newly sprouting corn and representing earth, and the underworld represented by the jaguar deity or Xook as well as the serpent Imix. The incense holders would be used for no more than 20 years, and then the Maya would bury them in sacred places."

"Wonderful Dog Guide"
I have become infatuated with the different Colima dogs. several years ago I found a pair of dancing dogs in southern Arizona. Then I discovered Novica, and was thrilled with my first pair of dogs from Angel Ceron. This is now my third piece of his work, and enjoy them so much!

"Cool Skull"
Tlaloc is one of my favorite gods, so having a skull with a Tlaloc motif is greatly appreciated. Looks cool in my room, when the light catches the skull it does look like the image on the description.
