Balinese artisan Buana designs a necklace with two sleepy moons for laid back days. The artisan hand carves two crescent moons from pale bone to create the pendant, sandwiching a blue topaz gem and a smooth rainbow moonstone between the crescents. Sterling silver accents and a sterling silver box chain finish the necklace with a touch of shine.

“Too small for my personal taste but perfectly made”

I bought the rainbow moonstone and blue topaz cuff bracelet and it might be my favorite bracelet. I bought this necklace to match, but it is too small for my taste, especially in comparison to the bracelet. I especially wish that the stones stood out more, but they are tiny. There is a much larger moon necklace on naga chain but unfortunately it has a garnet and does not match. Ill keep checking back! :)

Buana is a master silversmith. He designs and crafts his jewelry collection using a combination of traditional and modern jewelry making techniques. Buana and his silversmiths share their knowledge and train younger artisans that join the workshop.

Microcredit Financing

Buana has received 14 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $2400 and the most recent for $7000. Proceeds were used to invest in a purchase of natural gemstones and silver for his jewelry.

Caring for Children

When Buana first began to work, he was fearful that he would be unable to care for his first child. Now he proudly cares for two.

Buana provides for the education of his two children.
