Mexican Decorative Box in Decoupage featuring Frida Kahlo, "Two Fridas in Turquoise"
Ana Maria González pays tribute to Mexican artist Frida Kahlo with this antique-style decorative box. Crafted of pinewood, it depicts the famous 1939 self-portrait "The Two Fridas" on the lid. The box's body is decorated with flowers and dragonflies over a turquoise blue sky. Immortalized in film, Kahlo and her great love – muralist Diego Rivera – were leaders in Mexico's artistic and intellectual world during the first half of the 20th century.
Day of the Dead Decorative Wood Box, "Catrina My Love"
This chest treasures the timeless allure of Catrina, as first developed by renowned Mexican caricaturist José Guadalupe Posadas. Personifying death, Catrina is a coquettish character that symbolizes Mexican customs and beliefs. She is portrayed eating a watermelon and drinking tequila in a decoupage composition by Ana Maria Gonzalez. She uses it to adorn a pinewood box featuring iron fixtures.

Map of the World Reverse-Painted Glass Wood Decorative Box, "World View"
This decorative box features beautiful reverse-painted glass with maps of the world on its lid and four sides. Peruvian artisan Asunta Pelaez handcrafts the box from plywood and paints by hand the world map scenes on the reverse side of glass panes, that are then secured to the box surface. You'll appreciate the careful choice of color to represent the various geographic features of the Earth. The hinged lid opens to reveal a single compartment, painted black.
Reverse Painted Glass Decorative Boxes (Set of 3), "Red White and Blue"$54.95
Reverse painting on glass is a centuries-old art form requiring great care and precision. In this set of three decorative boxes handcrafted in Peru, artisan Asunta Pelaez inlays panes of glass which she has painted on the reverse, details first, using ink and tempera. Golden edges add an elegant touch.
