Christmas is my favorite time of year and I like to decorate as soon as possible. Instead of shopping in stores on Black Friday, I’m at home putting up the Christmas tree and decorations. I have quite a collection from over the years, with many items given to me by mom from my childhood. It’s these decorations that I hold most dear, and I plan to pass them down to my own daughter when she’s grown. Thankfully, my daughter loves the holidays as much as I do (though, what kid doesn’t?), and is already planning which holiday decor pieces she’s going to take over.
Even with my expansive collection, I am always on the lookout for new and meaningful holiday items. The classic nativity scene with Jesus, Mary and Joseph has always had a special place in my heart. Perhaps it’s because I played the part of Mary at my sixth grade Nativity pageant? For many years I have been looking to add a nativity scene to my Christmas display, and I never found one that was “just right” … that was until I stumbled upon the Hand Crafted Religious Wood Sculpture Set “Faithful” on NOVICA.
The ‘Faithful’ nativity scene by Jose Canil Ramos “combines the strength of faith with traditional Guatemalan arts.” Each of the 9 pieces is hand carved and painted, making each nativity scene one-of-a-kind.
What drew me to this particular nativity was the bright and bold yellow and floral designs on each figure’s robe. I knew this set would stand out and be the center of attention wherever I placed it. I also liked how baby Jesus could be removed from his manger, and Gabriel’s wings are detachable (ideal for safe storage).
As with everything I have ever ordered from NOVICA, I was blown away by the quality and craftsmanship of this nativity scene once it arrived from Guatemala. You can tell how much work was put into each figure, and as a whole, the set is stunning in person! I can’t wait to put it on display this holiday season.
I want to go back and touch on the quality of this set again because I know it’s something that’s going to stay with me for a long time. With proper care, this nativity scene could last for generations— and my daughter has already called “dibbs” on it for when she’s grown.
You can find Christmas decorations just about everywhere these days, but it’s more difficult to find products that will last, especially at NOVICA’s price points.
