Handcrafted gemstone sculptures in The Andes
"My main source of inspiration is my mother, since she taught me. She's been an important part of my goals to become an enterprising artisan with unique and exclusive designs.""I'm Paulino Zozimo Laura Valerio. When I was a boy, I helped my mother collect semiprecious gemstones, which she sold for extra income. We would wash the stones, classify and carve them.
"I decided to do my part to help. I found I was more interested in the shapes, colors and textures of the stones. Quite some time later, my mother died and I promised myself I would study, and keep working and learn more. I worked very hard carving for other companies to learn different aspects of this art. I also studied business administration so I'd be able to manage a workshop of my own and make it a reality one day.
"The next 11 years were spent training, observing and learning. During this time, I gained the necessary experience and decided to work independently with the goal of creating innovative designs of my own.

"I'm very happy to be part of Novica. Thank you for giving me the chance to grow, develop and show my art to the world."
