Magnificent monkey business!
Large, well made. Unique piece and a great addition to my collection. Artist is very talented. One down side, you have to rig your own way to hang. Would be better with a wire or hanger screwed into the inside of mask.

Colorful Handcrafted Wood Statuette, "My Monkey Friend"
With a smiling if startled expression, this lovely monkey comes with a promise of friendship. From Zeny and Reyna, the endearing statuette is carved of copal wood and painted by hand with a palette of cheerful colors that includes orange, red, blue, green, yellow, and pink.
Nigerian Wood Mask, "Harvest Joy"
A serious expression belies the joy of an abundant harvest. Carved and painted by hand, this handsome mask comes from Abdul Aziz Mohamadu. "It is used by the Chamba people of Nigeria during the Chambalare festival, which celebrates the end of the hunger suffered in the olden days," he says. "Farmers wear the mask to remember the days of severe hunger. Although the festival is joyous and filled with merrymaking, the sight of this mask reminds people to keep their crops well and waste nothing." He names this piece a Hausa word meaning "Worried."
Artisan Crafted Wood Statuette, "Romancing Monkey"
Employing local suar wood, Nyoman Karsa skillfully carves this image of Balinese monkeys. The pair strikes a loving pose, embraced in an expression of nature’s intimacy. Subtle details complement the wood’s alluring grain. Imbued with ecological sentiments, the work offers a unique touch to any interior.
Says Karsa, “Outside is the natural world; the lives of animals depend on human behavior. Numerous hunters travel around the world endangering the lives of animals, while only a few people concern themselves with finding the best way to save them from entirely disappearing. By creating animal statuettes I offer an alternative for animal lovers.”
