"I create designs that tell the wearer's story — our present, past, future, aspirations, boldness and confidence."
"My home is India — a land of colorful arts and crafts. I love this country, its diversity and its history which have nurtured these arts and crafts over the centuries.
"I love to paint and have designed and hand-painted women's clothes since 2001. All of my designs are inspired by flora and fauna.
"My parents were farmers and encouraged me to succeed in school for a better future. When I was young, I always dreamed of becoming a doctor and chose medical science. After three attempts to get into medical school, I was rejected and completely heartbroken. At that time, my family encouraged me to study textiles.
"I've always enjoyed interior decorating and gardening. Working at the garden with my father exposed me to nature and developed my color sensibilities. My grandmother was very talented at crafts like embroidery, crochet, weaving and knitting. I wish I could have learned even more from her.
"I was unsure if I should continue go to school for a bachelor's degree, but my best friend and husband-to-be, Mohit, encouraged me to concentrate on my art. The dream of working together on our respective arts was the pillar of our relationship — painting for me and poetry for him.
"I began painting on clothing and create designs that are beautiful, fluid and lively. They tell a story, the wearer's story — our present, past, future, aspirations, boldness and confidence.
"I draw and paint calligraphy on apparel and accessories. Since Mohit is a poet, we can create personalized poetry written on individual items for anyone who loves poetry and art."
