My dear friend is THRILLED with this kitty!
Sent this to a v dear friend for a Significant Birthday; shes a total cat person and an artist as well, so has a highly refined sense of both Cat and Craft. She LOVES it -- sent me pictures of the gift-wrap (regular Novica) and her own cats watching; now in a place of honor in her studio. Thanks so much, Amazingly Talented Novica Artist!
Black cats rule
Bought this as a gift for my daughter who has a black cat. She loved it and it sits among her green plants in the house. Very well made with smooth finish.
The beauty and craftsmanship of this figurine is outstanding. The woodgrain trueley sets off the the whole sculpture. Fantastic workmanship. Given as a gift and recipient was blown away. I am extremely happy and satisfied with this purchase.
Nengah Sudarsana Hand-carved wood art
"From an early age I loved natural things – plants, animals, birds or sea life… I particularly want to create wildlife and other animal themes in an exact, realistic and original way…."

Handcrafted Cedar Mayan Sculpture from Guatemala, "Devoted Midwife"$379.99
A Mayan midwife is realized in cedar atop a pinewood base. Guatemalan artist Nicolas Chavez Sojuel hand-carves this sculpture, detailing the midwife's elaborate jewelry and headdress. She sits with legs crossed, a child held close to her breast. For the artist, this sculpture presents a view of quotidian Mayan life, as the midwives would often take their children along with them as they worked.
Guatemala Carved Cedar Maya Ballplayer Sculpture, "Jaina Island Ballplayer"$719.99
Seated, a man of importance is pensive. Nicolas Chavez Sojuel expertly carves the poignant expression of a Maya ballplayer in cedarwood. The ancient athlete wears ornate jewelry, earrings and beaded necklaces; his protective wristbands and a thick, padded girdle are worn during the ritual ballgame. The Guatemalan artisan interprets a small ceramic figurine as realistically as did the pre-Hispanic ceramists of Jaina Island more than a thousand years ago. The original polychrome sculpture can be seen in the Houston Museum of Fine Arts.
