Mexican Brown Sculpture
Love the fine craftmanship of this statue. As an artist myself, I appreciate the intricacies involved in the work-and the fingers, etc.. and other more detailed aspect of this statue are so very well done!
It was moving to read in Zeny and Reyna's Artist Statement of their devotion to nature and "life's essential elements" and how this informs and nourishes their expression of Zapotec culture. I am deeply grateful for this spirit dog, this Xoloescincle, that has padded into my life! It really invites me, I feel, to open my eyes and heart with a sense of wonder, like a child, to the goodness and magic that is actually present in this world. The ability to transmit that is a great gift and transcends any border. Such artistry is very special, I feel. Thank you!
I have received my compliments and questions about this piece. He attracts a lot of attention. I wish I knew the history behind the Rain God Tlaloc!
