Nana Frimpong carves the mask by hand using manual tools and sese wood. A braid-like texture frames the piece and soot enhances its antique finish. In Ghana masks like these are most often worn in tribunals assuring impartiality during the trial. Adwen pa means "positive thinking" in the Akan language.</p>
